Mount Vernon- George Washington's Home

Mt. Vernon was my FAVORITE site to see!

These were some unusual flowers...one of MANY in the D.C. area.

The Enterance

The Chillins

George Washington's Home
The tour of this home was so cool. We saw the dining room, the bedrooms, and the bed in which George Washington passed away.

This is the back of the home. This plantation was so big, so many cabins and buildings helping it to work.

Just one of the carriages in which George Washington rode.

This is the tomb where George and Martha are buried.
Actually, it is the second tomb. Washington was buried first in a family tomb, and then moved.

Petting the Lambs

This is an image that followed our every move....kinda creepy!

"Stop looking at me!"
After the tour of the home and the property, there is a museum about the Washington's

Ashlyn in the little pioneer girls dress.
The Wilson's at Mt. Vernon. Don't we look nice. Looks like we are ready for a dinner party.

The Pentagon- April 2009

Here we are at the Pentagon. Again, such an amazing place!

We Will Never Forget.

The Names of the deceased.

The Pentagon. Can you see where the plane went in?
We were full of emotion as we walked around and looked at this building.
Unbelievable!
The Wilson's at the Pentagon.
Behind us was the memorials for those who lost their live on 9/11.
Names and ages were listed. The monuments coming out of the ground were
faced different ways depending on where they were killed.
So hard to believe! Some were families with small children, business men,
mothers, fathers. Tears came to my eyes as I walked through this amazing
monument honoring these victims.

Arlington National Cemetary

Arlington National Cemetery

All of us felt so much emotion as we looked at the lives that were
sacrificed on all of our behalf. Very humbling.

More of the Vaycay! 2009

The National Monument

The White House

As close to the White House as possible

Very Exciting!

The end to a very eventful, very exausting day in D.C.

Washington D.C.....Continued. It's about time! Wasn't this in April 2009?

At the top of the "Old" Postoffice

There was a mall at the bottom of this monument.
See the elevator on the right! It was a long way up!
After the fun elevator ride, view of the city, we had Ben and Jerry's ice cream
they were giving free samples....mmmmm, mmmm.......good!

A view from the top.

Our Nation's Capital. Seen from the top of the Old Postoffice (now a mall)

I am so ashamed!

It has been so long. I cannot believe how time flies!
